A Hundo

It's a sculpture of the number 100.100 posts (this being 101)! As just the second Babeler to reach the century mark, I can’t help but feel like the Buzz Aldrin to Greg Molyneux’s Neil Armstrong. No one ever remembers the second guy. Unless of course you are the United States Space Program and would like nothing more than to forget that the Russians beat you into space. In which case, by all means celebrate Alan Shepard and forget all about Yuri Gagarin. But alas, on the inside I hear the voice of the bad guy from Karate Kid smashing my smaller trophy and telling me that second sucks.

As such, I have decided that in lieu of listing some of my favorite articles by yours truly, I will instead pay tribute to some of the intelligent, funny, and in some cases unruly bloggers that I have met over the years. Each of these writers has either made me laugh, made me angry, inspired me, discouraged me, or in some cases just downright insulted me. I am grateful for every wonderful/miserable bit of it. Enjoy.

The Movie Whore

If ever existed a man with an abundance of opinions to rival my own, it is surely The Movie Whore. Despite an uncharacteristically misguided opinion regarding the Star Wars/Star Trek debate, this blogger certainly has earned his authority on all manner of cinema. Now if I could just get him to endorse an A-Team movie…

Rusty Lime

I never enjoyed disagreeing with someone more than the guys over at Rusty Lime. The Limers come from all over the world including North America, Australia, and Europe. Despite a debilitating case of liberal, these guys are all intelligent and well spoken writers who have earned my reluctant respect.

Jeff Rose (Good Financial Cents)

I like money. Jeff Rose helps me get more. That should just about sum up Jeff’s Blog. He has made multiple appearances on TV and print media and I am sure we will hear more from Jeff in the future. Did somebody say CNBC?

Tamahome Jenkins (Everything is History)

Everything is history, including the reading of this article upon completion.  Mr. Jenkins considers it all fair game.  Sports, food, politics, and plenty of some very off the wall stuff is translated into historical anecdote.

Marko Saric (How to Make My Blog)

Over the past two years I have met several ‘how to’ bloggers. Marko is one of the most original. He certainly does not subscribe to most traditional blog doctrine and as such has quickly earned himself the respect of some of the some of big names in blogs about blogs. He taught me how to apply for guest posts and some of the finer points in helping your blog’s pagerank.

Daniel Scocco (Daily Blog Tips)

Daily Blog Tips is probably the one blog that I religiously read every single day.  This is another site that is quickly climbing the ladder to the top of the “how to” blogs.

Brett McKay (The Art of Manliness)

If ever there were a substitute for a positive male role model it is The Art of Manliness. This blog lacks much of the self-destructive machismo that most male oriented blogs specialize in and instead focuses on issues facing a modern man in a professional or home environment. Refinement, style, manners, and career advice are all included along with a healthy but restrained dose of badassery.

Three (Sheep The Moon)

Three just cracks me up.  His ramblings have no particular ryme or reason but always manage to make me spray spit on my screen.  His coverage of the protesters at the G20 this summer was more entertaining than watching a blind midget with no teeth bob for apples in a tub full of piranhas.

Cameron Schaefer (Schaefer’s Blog)

Just about every kid at some point in life says “I want to be an Air Force pilot.” Cameron Schaefer actually followed through. He documents his travels all over the world on his site along with several other topics relevant to people both military and civies like myself.

There are obviously more blogs that I read and admire. But I’m going to stop here. The metric system is unAmerican and therefore I now restrict my list posts to nine. Ten is Socialist.

Thanks for the link Jack! Hmm, maybe you should have called it Jack’s Links….mmm, beef jerkey…sorry. Enjoying Babeled more all the time, keep up the good work! Nice profile on Massound by the way, it would be interesting to see what advice he would give us now as we find ourselves bogged down in his homeland.

Ahh shucks! You’re making me blush. Thanks for the honorable mention. The list is a nice round up because I’ve discovered most of these fellow bloggers in the past year or so, too. Look forward to the next 100!

Thanks, Jeff. Building a network has been one of the unexpected bonuses of blogging that I have enjoyed these past two years.
