My Google Wave excitement meter just went about about 16 notches. Watching this excellent video explanation touting Google Wave as an inarguable e-mail usurper has me completely convinced of a paradigm shift.
Thanks to the exceptional work by the folks at Epipheo Studios, I am assured Google Wave will destroy legacy e-mail systems; more specifically Microsoft Outlook and its ubiquitous use in business.
Anyone who has worked in an office environment can attest to the cluster f- scenario that was depicted in the video above. As an IT guy I can tell you fumbling through chain e-mails is a nightmare and it takes up far more time in my day than I would care to admit.
I am not alone in this pain.
The corporate world has a chance to evolve and enhance their collaboration capacity immensely by leveraging the Google Wave system. Realistically, with the slow adoption speed of large corporations, the chances of early adoption are unlikely.
So I’ll ask the question, will big business suffer a substantial blow by not integrating a slam-dunk breakthrough technology in a reasonable time frame? Will smaller, leaner competitors be able to erode market share because their productivity will immediately improve?
Collaboration is the key to innovation. This we know. It is clear however, that the way we collaborate just got a whole lot faster.
. . . And this is just scratching the surface.

Google Wave looks awesome and definitely appears to be a paradigm shift in the making. Is this the beginning of Web 3.0 (something I’ve heard about but remain clueless about)?
How does one get an invite to this party?
Hey Greg,
Thanks for posting this – I had been searching for a good explanation of what Google Wave was all about besides the 2-hour video they link to on the homepage. Keep up the good work Team Babeled!
Cameron, I actually spent the near two hours watching that video and I easily gleaned more from this 3 minute video. Either way I am excited about Google Wave, and I cannot wait for my invitation.
So they made a forum? What’s the big fuss?
Alex, I think you may be trivializing Google Wave just a bit. Can forums allow real-time collaboration on documents with playback features? Can forums embed real time video and voice over IP? Can forums integrate as seamlessly with other APIs (Twitter, Facebook, Weather, Maps, anything)? Can forums allow peer-2-peer file transferring in a drag-drop user interface?
