“El hombre es la única criatura que consume sin producir. Él no da la leche, él no pone los huevos, él es demasiado débil tirar del arado, él no puede funcionar rápidamente bastante para coger conejos. Con todo él es señor de todos los animales. Él los fija para trabajar, él da de nuevo a ellos el mínimo pelado que evitará que mueran de hambre, y el resto que él guarda a se.”
Translation
“Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps to himself.” (George Orwell, Animal Farm, 1945)

Andrew, is this a quote from Napoleon?
Nope, Old Major says this quote.
Ah very good, it’s been so long since I’ve read this book.
Speaking of which, it has always struck me as incredibly bizarre that most of us had to read this in like the 6th grade. This book is way too heady for 11 year olds.
Yup, I’ve been jonesing to revist a lot of those “required reading” books. Brave New World was always one of my favorites. And Animal Farm and 1984 are deep books even for a high school senior to dissect.
I was a Childhood’s End guy myself.
I don’t know what that is.
