Satire? Racial Insensitivity? Social Commentary? Patent Racism? Successful ploy to gain publicity? Or just funny as hell?
I caught wind of the Red House Furniture store commercial while I was listening to the Free Beer and Hot Wings Morning Show on my ride into work and thought to myself, well this is going to create quite a stir. Naturally, I wanted to track down the video and get a feeling for what you all think… All three of you.

I heard the commercial today. To say the least I was shocked and appalled by this ridiculous commercial!! My husband and I are an interracial couple. I don’t think people understand that even in the 21st century people still discriminate. We as a “people” want to be seen for who we are not the color of someone’s skin. Ask yourself this question……does it really matter what color someone is in order to decide if it is a good “sofa”? I think a step back is something that needs to be done and take a look at the big picture. Is it because you are not getting a good mix of people in the store or is it because of how you make people feel when they come in. Being white and my husband being black it is more than obvious when we walk into a store we are judged. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
Becki – I’m sorry, I understand your frustration, but you lack any semblance of sense of humor. It doesn’t matter what color your skin is when you buy furniture – and that’s exactly the point…

This is almost as good as the Red Roof Inn ads. Those two dudes singing “at the reeeeed house” are funny as hell. Racist? nope…

Surely this commercial is rather too progressive and left wing for Tea Party folk.
