Do You Have What it Takes to be Ruemelified?
Posted by Greg Molyneux under Babeled, Photography
While Jeff Ruemeli may take the meaning of silent partner to a whole new level, he sure can sling a mean pot. Spending his days at the M.T. Burton Gallery in Surf City, New Jersey, Jeff has been honing his skills at the potter’s wheel. A while back, I went over to snap some photos in order to help pass the time.
Since I am obsessed High Dynamic Range photo processing I decided to take this photo to task. The intensity revealed in the hands really captures the essence of throwing clay. Whatever the hell that means?
Now that we all know he can play with dirt, is it possible that he might be able to play with a keyboard? Stay tuned…
If by chance you care to check out some of my other HDR images, cruise over to my Flickr Photostream. I’ll be adding more pictures as time goes on.

Hey Jeff…how much is studio time there?
August 27th, 2008 at 8:48 am
Studio time is 20 dollars a day. 10 dollars for a half day. And it’s just about as much fun as an individual can handel.

Wow. That’s great. Need to buy your own clay and everything? Is there a way to get more info?
Don’t want to flood this blog with my clay questions, have e-mail?

Clay is 25 bucks. Glazing and firing is no extra charge. Don’t worry about asking clay questions. Maybe others have the same questions… You might be doing the work of the masses. Let me know if you still prefer da e-mail…

Jeff, how much clay does 25 dollars buy?

Hey Greg, what kind of effect did you apply to this photo to make it look like a painting?
August 31st, 2008 at 11:20 pm
I used a program called Photomatix Pro 3. It handles tone mapping and exposure blending to help create HDR photos.

I’ll still take the e-mail,
Is there a website or anything? And as Greg asked, how much does $25 get you? Fifty pound box?
What type(s) of clay available? (Earthenware, Stoneware, porcelain.)

These painted photos are sick. You should do an entire “Reumeli on Clay” series. The contrast and detail of the clay in the bucket makes the shot.

Ashley, there is a link to the website in the post. Click on the link where the text reads M.T. Burton Gallery.

Andrew, that is my favorite part of the picture too. I just have to keep looking at it for whatever reason.

Thanks Greg.
Look forward to getting my hands dirty again, lol.

We mainly use stoneware in the studio and fire to eletric cone 6 or gas cone 10. My E-mail is GlassforRumly@hotmail.com if you have any further questions…
