Update: Kidd Chris has since been fired for airing a racial song parody on 94.1 WYSP.  Read this article for more details regarding his unforeseen departure.

I’m a sucker for talk radio, especially when it’s really crude and immature. There is nothing high-brow or respectable about the shock-jockery I willingly expose myself to on a daily basis. I think of it as modern day blood-letting for the soul. For me, base humor and fart jokes are fundamental to my brief departures from my cold harsh reality of life in cubicle. My talk radio existence began with Howard Stern and has since migrated to his anointed protégé Kidd Chris.

Chris Foley, 33, has bounced around a bit during his short albeit controversial radio career. Moving along from Syracuse, Kansas, Sacramento, and San Antonio before finally landing in Philadelphia. Initially he was an afternoon jock on 94.1 WYSP, occupying the 3-7 afternoon drive and serving as my personal salvation during an hour and twenty minute commute home. However, once the station reformatted and completely dismantled its air-staff, Kidd Chris slid into the coveted and lucrative morning slot to take on the very popular Preston and Steve show (which has been number one in Philly since Stern fled to Sirius).

On occasion I would tune into Preston & Steve’s show on 93.3 WMMR during my morning ride, however their morning zoo antics were too much stomach. The format was too cookie cutter and the bits were altogether hacky. Steve is a pretty funny dude, but the rest of their crew makes me want to gouge my heart out with a spoon because it will hurt more you twit. But with Kidd Chris now soiling the morning airwaves, I no longer have to subject myself to Philly’s morning zoo. Gadzooks!

Over the next year I am eager to see what kind of dent the Kidd Chris show can put into the iron sides of the Preston & Steve behemoth. I am fairly confident there will be a shift in power. Kidd Chris is more of the Philly mode. Philadelphia is a tough town with a bunch of championship deprived jerk-offs, and that is the exact audience that Chris Foley targets. His show is built on call-in audience participation by angry dudes who can’t get chicks. All parties are fair game (including the host) and everyone’s ego gets crushed, after all the show is predicated on building up so they can tear it down.

I love listening to this train wreck every morning.
