If you recall when the All Star game was played at Fenway back in 1999, Bernie, Jeter, and the other Yankees were booed mercilessly as well. Papelbon however, drew added ire because of his own foolishness. He thought it worthwhile and legitimate that he should be the one who closes the game - instead of Mariano. Of course, this got the Yankee faithful into an uproar and the media had a field day with it. Right or wrong this is baseball, and this is the reason there is a rivalry. On a side note: I was really ashamed to hear all the boos for only Red Sox players(Papelbon, Youkilis, and the MVP J.D. Drew) during the game. The fans were totally classless and I am ashamed to be associated with that. The All-Star game is about ALL the players having fun and hanging out.
