There are a lot of great movies out there.
There are movies that make you laugh, movies that make you cry, and then there are movies that somehow evoke all the possible emotions in the human spectrum of feeling – these we consider the best of the best.
Now, I have no top three greatest movies – I after all love possibility, change, and anything open-ended. However, its become apparent to me that the fourth greatest movie ever made is definitely, by far, and without a doubt Undercover Brother. I’m willing to close the case on this one. For those of you unfamiliar with this classic, may god have mercy on your soul – you really are missing out on a film that will change the way you see life.
The epic tale of the interactions between the all-black “B.R.O.T.H.E.R.H.O.O.D” and the all white “The Man” moves beyond symbolism into the blatant facts of white supremacy, institutional racism, and the constant motivation of all Whites to suppress the African-American community. Its theme of a black presidential candidate running for a presidency against all odds is more relevant today than ever before.
Above all, what really makes this movie #4 greatest movie material is the scene where Eddie Griffin is injected with the White drug – this basically converts him into a Typical White Man. For the entire scene all the white people I know seemed to be explained by Eddie’s behavior – there was the awkwardness in movement, the awkwardness in speech, the general stiff, stressed out, awkwardness in almost every aspect of life.
It was then that I realized this movie was teaching us all a great lesson – to be White is to be awkward.

While I am a big Eddie Griffin fan, this movie made me want to smash myself in the face with a pan.
I enjoyed this movie. It is definitely a great satirical piece on the issue of race.
I think there have been more than enough racial satires. And this ranks as one of the least intelligent and entertaining. Sorry, Andrew, but you know we will never see eye to eye on this one!
The move cracked me up. I loved it, but I would never rate it as a top movie. Maybe a top Eddie Griffin movie but not an all time great.

Off the top of my head. If you want a great Eddie Griffin movie check out Foolish. Now that was a good movie. Other notable mentions Prestige, Fountain, Southland Tales, American Psycho, Man Who would be King, Saved, Unforgiven, Departed, Across the Universe is on my list but I can understand how some people may not like this movie that much. I could on and on, after all I am The Movie Whore. I may have to write an all time great movie list this week and put it up this weekend. Looks like I have 2 articles to write tomorrow night.
Across the Universe is the last movie I have seen in the theaters, and I thought it was tremendous. I am a huge Beatles fan, and this was a great tribute to the band and their relevance that will stand for all time.
American Psycho is an awesome awesome film. And I’ll definitely have to check out Foolish sometime soon.
As far as my 4th favorite, I can think of better comedies than Undercover Brother (i just like clever titles for my articles)…Ace Ventura 1 and 2 are up there. Old School. Something About Mary. Wayne’s World and any SNL spinoff… I’m a sucker for ridiculous comedy.
Lest you forget the greatest movie about caddy’s ever made, Caddyshack!
“So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I’m a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald… striking. So, I’m on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one – big hitter, the Lama – long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga… gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he’s gonna stiff me. And I say, “Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.” And he says, “Oh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.” So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.”
Greg that was awesome. Caddyshack is a true comedic classic. To keep with the Bill Murray theme how can you pass on Stripes, What About Bob and Groundhog’s Day.
But for all out comedic greatness you have to throw in Blues Brothers, Animal House, Porky’s, Revenge of the Nerds, Hot Dog the movie, Out Cold, any Monty Python and of course Super Troopers.
Andrew if want truly ridiculous then watch My Big Fat Independent Movie. One of the best parody flicks I have seen.
Also recommended, Weekend At Bernie’s, Tank Girl, Spinal Tap (This is and Return of) or anything else these guys do. there is also Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Terror Firmer and other Troma classics. Strange Brew, Rocket Man and some others I just can’t think of right now. Like I said there is a reason I am The Movie Whore.

Andrew, the more I look at the picture from this post, the more I realize the resemblance between you and the Undercover Brother himself.
Thats because I make every effort to follow Eddie Griffin’s grooming habits to a T.
Well, everything except the use of ASH-OFF. I unfortunately don’t have ashy knees.
I turned the TV on this morning to behold Undercover Brother. This made me think of a conversation I had with Greg about the apparent increase of air time that the movie is experiencing. The I saw the part in the beginning with the Man wanting to kill the blakc General guy who might run for president. Then it dawned on me: this is all about Obama (or O’bama, whichever you prefer since he IS Irish) running for president. That made it instantly awesome.
Did you just justify Andrew’s existence?
I should really go out and finally buy this movie. Its like a $5 boom shakalaka sandwich from subway.
