CONFIRMED: Boba Fett to Star in Live Action Star Wars TV Series

Bobba FettThose of us thoroughly disgusted with the lack of quality in the Star Wars Prequels and Special Edition revisions can breathe a much deserved sigh of relief. The one they call Fett is coming to a TV screen near you!

The latest edition of Star Wars Insider has confirmed that the most feared and notorious bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe, Boba Fett, will “play an instrumental part” in the upcoming live action TV series slated to debut in 2009.

After the combined assault of Greedo shoots first, Jar Jar Binks, and Hayden Christensen’s deplorable “I hate them” disaster from AOTC, those loyal fans who endured decades of waiting only to be disappointed may yet receive that which they deserve.

Look for the series to take a much darker, more mature tone. Rumors indicate the plot will involve a more in depth approach to character development of Boba Fett. Think Tony Soprano. He’s not good. He’s not bad. He’s somewhere in between and he’s packing enough blasters, rockets, flame throwers, concussion grenades, nerve agents, and edged gauntlets to make both the good and bad guys take a step back.

Others not confirmed, but rumored to join Boba Fett in the series are Chewbacca, several characters from the expanded universe, pod racers, Star Destroyers, Death Star plans, and last but not least – Madonna.

I for one, find myself suffering from the same plight I endured through 1999 – what am I supposed to do with myself between now and the release? I can only hope that this time around, The George lends an ear to the woes of his angry legion of fans and spends a little more time on the script and much, much less on the merchandising.

  1. Hopefully George is not taking this opportunity to further “his quest for more money”. I look forward to the TV series, especially since it would be focusing more on Boba Fett, who I scarcely know much about.

  2. The books and movies have taken two completely different approaches to Boba.

The more familiar clone of Jango was a divergence from the character presented in the books.

In the books he was born Jaster Mareel. A fantical lawman who after being exiled from his homeworld for his hardline appraoch to law enforecment became the feared bounty hunter Boba Fett. Jaster/Boba lived by a strict code of conduct and took great pleasure in vanquishing the scum of the galaxy while not ashamed to turn a profit on the venture.

  3. Frankly though, while the books are great and entertaining they do need to be taken with a grain of salt. They are in fact not the words and sole idea of George Lucas. Therefore the artistic vision is skewed. They cannot be accepted as Star Wars Canon. Sure he may sanction them, but he just wants the loot, and realizes the benefit of an ever-expanding Star Wars Universe.

  4. So if this series is between Episode III and IV, do you think they’ll touch on Han Solo’s training and experiences?

Maybe some scenes of Luke in elementary school starting a food fight?

  5. Han Solo was trained to be an imperial soldier. He went AWOL when he rescued Chewie from an imperial slave camp. Hence chewie’s life-debt to Han.

Yes – that would make for an awesome episode – depending on who plays young Han – how about the kid that played Pyro in X-men?

  6. I like the idea of a series for the time gap between episodes 3-4, how ever somethings that seem like a really good idea sometimes or badly executed. From what I understand it is going to be 100% CGI. It looks like the Jedi cartoons they put out a couple of years ago only CGI. I hope it doesn’t suck and I would so prefer live action so I hope I am an idiot and the CGI thing is false.

And the kid that played Pyro was a douche. For a young Han I don’t know who I would ick but maybe Lucas will use Shiah Lebouff again, since the rumors there are to continue Indy with him taking the reigns.

  7. CGI!? I hate CGI!

The only live-action movie that’s pulled off using it for a major portion of the film was Lord of The Rings with Gollum. But what about that horrible Final Fantasy film, or Beowulf….
…..the technology hasn’t been perfected yet, so why do we need to watch a technological miscarriage that totally ruins potentially awesome material?

  8. Bill,

I am amazed. Is there some underground movement within the Star Wars fan base that meets at night in obscure locations to discuss hatred of Fett in secret for fear of being discovered and persecuted by the rest of your geek brethren?
