Fun Fact: The New York Yankees have not won a World Series with a Republican President in office since General Dwight D. Eisenhower.

That’s right, the very New York Yankees that have celebrated 26 championships get very little help from the Grand Old Party when it comes to earning parades down the Canyon of Heroes. To be exact, the last year America saw a Republican President and the Yanks share the spotlight was 1958.

Looking back even further, Republican administrations have not been kind to the Yankees since they claimed their first title in 1923. Despite winning their first 4 championships with Coolidge - Hoover at the helm, the Yankees would go on to win 19 of their next 22 world titles with a Democrat running the show. Spanning the Roosevelt - Truman era, the Yankees took home a remarkable 11 World Series Trophies! The Great Depression, World War II, and you guessed it, Democrats, have served as a real boon for baseball’s greatest franchise.

So what does this nonsense all mean? Simple - no Rudy. As a die hard Yankee fan, Giuliani must recognize this trend and bow out gracefully from the 2008 Presidential Race. Or better yet, he should push as hard as he can, fighting for the nod, ensuring there is no real chance a Republican President steps foot into office. Otherwise Boston’s domination will be solidified, and the impending Yankee swoon guaranteed.

Besides, in the era of terrorism, economic instability, an energy crisis, and global climate change - what’s more important than baseball?

Update:  Well Rudy must have listened as he bowed out of the presidential race earlier this week, after his poor showing in Florida.
